Rose Park, Utah used to be looked down upon as one of the “bad parts of town” but that stereotype has faded significantly. Rose Park is now considered to be one of THE hottest up-and-coming neighborhoods in all of Salt Lake. In fact, many of us (myself included) are calling Rose Park “the next Sugar House” because of it’s similar brick bungalow/cottage homes, and tree lined streets. Rose Park is just a short drive into downtown Salt Lake City, and only a few minutes from the I-15 on-ramps. This makes the location extremely desirable for anyone who wants quick access to Downtown SLC, but doesn’t want to pay an arm and a leg for a home, like in many other parts of SLC.
The area gets it’s name from the area’s original developer, who arranged part of the neighborhood’s streets in the shape of several roses, with one of its main streets, American Beauty Drive, looking like a long rose stem. Rose Park’s original roof shingles were red or green and its street names all feature rose varieties.
